To add social media accounts to Search Console, open Google Search Console, choose Add property, select a supported platform property for Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube, then follow the verification prompts. Each social account or channel becomes its own Search Console platform property, and data may take a few days to appear.
Google announced platform properties for Search Console on July 7, 2026, giving creators, publishers, and site owners a clearer way to see how supported social and video content performs across Google Search surfaces.
The supported platforms are currently Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube. Each account or channel is added separately, so your YouTube channel, Instagram profile, TikTok account, and X account each become their own Search Console platform property.
Rollout is gradual. If you do not see the option yet, that does not necessarily mean anything is wrong. Google says platform properties are becoming available over time, so some users may need to check again later.
What are Google Search Console platform properties?
Google Search Console platform properties are a property type for supported social and video accounts. Instead of verifying only a website, you can add an Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube account and review how that content is discovered through Google.
Google’s help documentation says creators and publishers can use platform properties to monitor how people find platform content on Google Search, and in News or Discover when the content appears there. It also clarifies that each account or channel should be added as its own property.
How to add social media accounts to Search Console
Use this setup process for each supported account or channel you want to track.
1. Open Google Search Console
Go to Google Search Console and sign in with the Google account you use to manage your brand, creator, or website properties.
2. Open the property selector or add property screen
Open the property selector dropdown in Search Console and choose Add property. You can also start from the Search Console welcome or add property screen.
3. Choose the supported platform
Select the platform you want to add:
- TikTok
- X
- YouTube
For example, to add YouTube to Search Console, choose YouTube. To add Instagram to Search Console, choose Instagram. The same process applies for TikTok and X.
4. Follow the verification or authorization prompts
Search Console will ask you to verify ownership or authorize the connection. The exact flow may vary by platform, but the purpose is the same: Google needs to confirm that you control the account or channel before showing performance data.
5. Go to the new platform property after verification
After ownership is verified, Search Console should show a confirmation message. Choose Go to property to open the new platform property.
6. Wait a few days for data to appear
New platform properties can show empty charts at first. Google says it may take a few days to collect and process performance metrics after setup.
7. Repeat for each account or channel
Repeat the setup for every supported account you want to track. If you manage more than one profile on the same platform, create a separate platform property for each one.
What reports become available?
Search Console platform properties focus on performance and discovery data for supported platform content.
Performance report
The Performance report shows metrics such as clicks, impressions, average click-through rate, average position, queries, and the posts or content that drove traffic. It can help you see which search terms lead users to your social or video content.
Insights report
The Insights report gives a higher-level view of recent traffic trends, top-performing content, and how people discover your account on Google.
Achievements
Achievements track milestones, such as reaching a new threshold for total clicks from Google Search over a recent period.
What the data means
Platform property data helps you understand how supported social and video content performs when people find it through Google surfaces.
- Clicks: People clicked from Google to your platform content.
- Impressions: Your content appeared on a Google surface.
- Queries: The search terms people used before seeing or clicking your content.
- Posts and content: The specific videos, posts, stories, or profile content driving visibility.
- Google surfaces: Where applicable, reporting can include Search, Discover, and News.
This is useful for identifying which off-site assets have search demand behind them. A YouTube video may earn Google impressions for a high-intent query. A TikTok may surface in Search or Discover. A branded Instagram profile may appear for navigational searches. Platform properties help separate those Google-driven signals from native platform analytics.
What platform properties do not measure
Search Console platform properties do not replace native analytics from Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube. They do not show all in-platform views, likes, watch time, followers, saves, shares, or engagement.
For example, Search Console will not show every TikTok view. It will not replace YouTube Studio. It will not show full Instagram reach. It only reports how supported platform content performs through Google surfaces where applicable.
Use Search Console platform properties alongside native platform analytics, not instead of them.
Why this matters for AI search and modern SEO
Modern SEO is becoming more entity-based and multi-surface. People discover brands through websites, videos, social profiles, creator content, product pages, Google results, AI answers, and short-form clips. Search Console platform properties make part of that discovery path more measurable.
For AI search and modern SEO, this matters for three practical reasons.
First, social and video profiles help confirm who you are. Consistent names, logos, bios, handles, and website links can strengthen the relationship between your website, brand, people, and content.
Second, platform properties show which social or video assets already have search demand. If a YouTube video earns impressions for a valuable query, that topic may deserve a stronger website page, refreshed video, FAQ, or supporting article.
Third, Search Console can help connect website SEO and off-site content strategy. For Lexington Digital and Signal to Answer, that supports a more complete visibility model: not just rankings, but how demand moves across answers, profiles, videos, and owned content.
This does not guarantee AI Overview visibility. It gives you better evidence about how your social and video content is being discovered through Google.
Before you add your accounts
Before adding platform properties, clean up the signals around your brand.
- Use a consistent brand name across your website and profiles.
- Use matching profile images or logos.
- Add your website link in social bios.
- Add social links on the website.
- Use clean YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and X handles.
- Publish recent useful content on each account.
These basics help users, search engines, and AI systems connect the same brand across different surfaces.
How to use the data after setup
Once data appears, look for patterns that connect social content to search demand.
- Which queries trigger your YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or X content?
- Which posts or videos get impressions but few clicks?
- Which platform content supports topics already important to your website?
- Which branded searches surface social profiles instead of website pages?
- Which high-impression topics deserve a supporting article, product page, or updated video?
If a YouTube video gets impressions for a high-intent search query, update the video title, description, transcript, and related website content. If an Instagram profile gets branded search visibility, make sure the bio, link, and pinned content match your current positioning.
